Sunday, July 26, 2026 -The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four persons over the alleged assault, public humiliation and cyberbullying of a resident, Temidayo Boluwaji.
The assault, which occurred on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 was
recorded and circulated on social media
It was gathered that the Boluwaji was accused of making fake
transfer to a Point of Sales (POS) operator.
In the viral video, some angry youths were seen assaulting
the victim, forcing him to dance with the POS machine on his head.
The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who
confirmed the incident in a statement said the arrests followed a complaint
lodged by the victim at the Okuta Elerinla Police Station on Thursday, July 23,
2026, at about 2 p.m..
According to the PPRO, the complainant alleged that he was
physically assaulted by a group of persons who recorded the incident without
his consent and uploaded the footage on various social media platforms.
Jimoh stated that the command immediately launched a
discreet investigation, leading to the arrest of Gbemisola Ariyo, Babatunde
Eniola, Adams Tobiloba and Fasusi Bunmi, who were alleged to have participated
in the assault.
The command condemned the growing trend of individuals
taking the law into their own hands by assaulting, humiliating or publicly
parading persons suspected of committing offences.
“The Ondo State Police Command under the purposeful
leadership of CP Felix Ohagwu psc, mnips, mspsp has commenced investigation
into a case involving alleged conspiracy, assault occasioning harm and cyber
bullying following the reported assault and public humiliation of a resident
whose video was unlawfully circulated on social media,” the statement read.
"On Thursday, July 23, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., one
Boluwaji Temidayo reported at the Okuta Elerinla Police Station that he was
allegedly assaulted by a group of persons who physically attacked him, recorded
the incident without his consent and subsequently uploaded the video on various
social media platforms.
