Reacting to the incident, Rebecca’s mother, Mrs Doris
Kambai, said, “I am the mother of Rebecca, whom we just lost yesterday. It is
truly a time of grief for the whole family. My daughter, my last baby, will be
greatly missed.
"She was actually my favourite, and the siblings even
know that. She took after me in so many ways, and I have been so proud of her.
She was such an intelligent and brilliant girl. Her coming into my life was
truly a blessing.
"Ever since she came into my life, so many things
changed, and for that I am so grateful. Well, there is nothing we can do about
it. God gives and He has taken away. May His name be forever praised.”
The grieving mother further said, “I want to appreciate
everyone who has rallied around me throughout this period of grief. I lack
words to express my gratitude. It is my prayer that the Lord will reward each
one of them at the point of their needs. In their own days of sorrow, may they
meet people who will stand by them and comfort them. I am so grateful. Thank
you so much."
