Thursday, June 9, 2026 - Six persons have been confirmed de@d while five others were left injured following fresh bandit atta@ck on Lajinge community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State on Wednesday, July 8.
Residents said the attackers stormed the community at about
12:00 midnight and operated until around 2:20 a.m., shooting sporadically and
causing panic among villagers.
A resident of the community, who spoke anonymously to Daily
Trust, said
“They came
in large numbers on motorcycles and started shooting indiscriminately. They
killed six people, including a married woman, and injured five others. They did
not abduct anyone during the attack. They only rustled our livestock. The
injured victims are currently receiving treatment at a hospital,” he said
The victims k!lled in the att@ck were identified as Alhaji
Dankane S/Ruwa, Samaila Isah Udu, Adare Dansisi Makeri, Danlami Abdulrahama,
Maryam Dankane and Hamisu Adamu. Those injured were identified as Lawali
Danjaji, Sani Ibrahim, Garba Adare Garbobo, Iliya Muntari and Adamu Yarkyeya.
The deceased victims has since been buried according to the
Islamic rites.
