
Thursday, June 25, 2026 - The gate of the Federal High Court, Abuja was shut by supporters of activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, who is currently standing trial over charges filed against him by the DSS.
Videos making the rounds on social media show the supporters
chanting ‘’Free Sowore'' as court officials barricaded the gate.
The Department of State Services is prosecuting Sowore over
alleged criminal defamation arising from claims that he referred to President
Bola Tinubu as a “criminal” in posts made on his official X and Facebook
accounts.
On Monday, June 21, he was remanded in Kuje prison. Today,
he appeared in court and was sent back to Kuje by the court till June 30 for
hearing of his bail application.
