Tuesday, June 30, 2026 - The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly r@ping a 9-year-old girl in Katagum Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who
disclosed this in a statement on Monday, June 29, 2026 said the suspect,
Muhammadu Audu, threatened to k!ll the victim with a knife if she disclosed the
matter to her parents.
Habib said the victim’s father reported the incident on June
15, alleging that the suspect lured his daughter to an uncompleted building
while she was hawking soya bean cake on June 14 and had unlawful s8xual
intercourse with her.
"Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command,
attached to Bulkachuwa Division have arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly
def!ling a 9-year-old girl in Bulkachuwa, Katagum Local Government Area,” the
statement read.
"According to a report received at Bulkachuwa
Divisional Police Headquarters, on 15th June, 2026 at about 1700hrs, the
complainant, a resident of Bulkachuwa reported that on 14th June, 2026 at about
1700hrs, one Muhammadu Audu ‘m’ of the same address lured his 9-year-old
daughter, while she was hawking soya beans cake.
"Subsequently, the suspect allegedly took the minor to
an uncompleted building with the pretext of buying from her, and had unlawful
s8xual intercourse with her.
"As a result, the victim sustained injuries on her
private part.
"Furthermore, during interrogation, the suspect
confessed to have committed the crime more than once and also admitted that he
threatened to k!ll the victim with a knife if she disclosed the matter to her
parents.
"In addition, the victim was immediately taken to the
Primary Health Care Centre, Bulkachuwa, for medical examination and
treatment.
"The suspect was apprehended and is currently in
custody.
"Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori
Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has ordered a thorough investigation into the
matter.
"He condemned the act in strong terms and reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for s3xual violence and crimes against children.
“The Command further assures the public that the case will be diligently prosecuted, and it remains committed to protecting women and children across the State.”
