Saturday, June 13, 2026 - Fashion
entrepreneur Toyin Lawani has expressed concern over the rising cost of food
items in Nigeria.
In a video shared online, she questioned how many Nigerians
are coping with the current prices of basic food items, describing the
situation as difficult for many families.
According to her, a small basket of Irish potatoes now costs
about N30,000, while four pieces of plantain sell for around N2,500.
“How are people eating? How are people fending? Things are
ridiculously expensive,” she said.
Toyin added that even N1 million no longer goes far when
shopping for food, saying, “You carry one million naira to market, it will buy
you nothing.”
