Monday, May 4, 2026 - Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has said governors in the North-West will not negotiate with bandits.
He spoke in Katsina State during the opening of a new road project, saying the
region’s leaders are united in fighting insecurity and are investing heavily to
tackle it.
“We will not negotiate with any criminal, nor will we accept
any offer from them unless they surrender unconditionally,” he said.
Aliyu assured residents that state governments are working
closely with security agencies to end banditry.
He also urged communities to help by reporting informants
and suspicious movements.
“We must do the needful at the community level by remaining
vigilant and monitoring the movement of suspicious individuals,” he added.
The governor called on people to support their efforts and
pray for success, while praising Katsina State’s Community Guard initiative and
its role in improving security.
