Tuesday, May 12, 2026 - Governor Charles Soludo has announced that his administration has commenced a rigorous crackdown on fake pastors and prophets staging fraudulent miracles to exploit residents of Anambra State.
Speaking at St. Patrick’s Cathedral during the All
Knights Day of the Catholic Diocese of Awka on Sunday, May 10, Governor Soludo
disclosed that several fraudulent clerics have already been arrested and are
currently in custody confessing to their actions.
The governor accused these religious leaders of promoting a
"gospel of salvation without the cross" and exploiting vulnerable
citizens through deceptive practices. As part of efforts to clean up the
state's religious space, Soludo challenged individuals claiming to possess
genuine miracle-working powers to demonstrate them at the Amaku Hospital,
rather than exploiting public gatherings.
"We have arrested fake pastors and bishops. Whoever
wants to perform a miracle should come to Amaku Hospital," the Governor
stated, emphasizing his commitment to building a new, honest Anambra.
“The state
has commenced an ongoing crackdown on fake pastors who exploit the vulnerable
by preaching gospel of ‘salvation without the cross.
As I speak
now, several of them are already in custody and confessing. A new Anambra is in
the offing, which must be clean and clear of such deception.
We’ve
arrested fake pastors and bishops. Whoever wants to perform miracle should come
to Amaku Hospital.” he said
