Friday, May 8, 2026 - No fewer than six people were k!lled while six others hospitalised following the explosion of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along the road from Bagega to Anka town, Anka local government in Zamfara state.
It was gathered that the IED which detonated in the early
hours of Thursday, May 7, 2026 involved a commercial motor vehicle carrying
passengers.
The incident led to damages and traffic disruption along the
Bagega to Anka road.
According to local sources, the explosive device, planted by
suspected bandits, detonated when the commercial vehicle was passing through
the area.
A resident of Bagega town, Mallam Danbagega, who spoke
through telephone said the explosion occurred around 9am, adding that some of
the passengers have d!ed while others sustained serious injuries.
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, DSP Yazid
Abubakar, who confirmed the incident said six people were reported to have d!ed
and six others were currently receiving treatment in hospital.
The PPRO noted that normalcy has since returned in the area
following deployment of more security personnel to the area
