Friday, May 8, 2026 - The
decomposing body remains of a hairstylist, simply identified as Kemisola, were
discovered in her room at a house located around Jaleyemi Area of Osogbo, Osun
State.
A co-tenant to the deceased, who preferred anonymity for
security reasons, told Punch he
observed the door to the deceased’s room partly open on Thursday morning, May
7, 2026.
He further explained that Kemisola had not been seen for
some time in the house, adding that he made an attempt to check her after
repeated greetings went unanswered.
He subsequently discovered her lifeless body lying on the
bed.
“This morning, I noticed that her apartment door was open
and I called out to greet her, but she didn’t respond," he said.
“That was when I decided to check on her, and I was shocked
to find her decomposing body lying on the bed. I don’t even know her full name.
We only exchanged greetings, and occasionally we exchanged pleasantries as
neighbours."
A neighbour to the deceased, simply identified as Jide, who
said he saw Kemisola on Monday, said the cause of the stench coming out of her
room on Tuesday was initially mistaken for a d3ad rat, until her corpse was
found.
Before the remains were evacuated, a knife, a mobile phone,
and an empty bottle of a substance were found on the bed where Kemisola lay in
her room.
Also speaking on the incident, a man who claimed to be an
elder brother to the deceased, but pleaded not to be named in the press, said
he saw Kemisola on Monday, when she returned from a trip to Igbajo.
"I saw her on Monday, she told me she would come back
to me. But I didn’t see her until her d3ad body was found today. She was a hair
stylist,” he said.
Another neighbour of the deceased, Damilola, explained that
Kemisola had moved out of her apartment due to the challenge of irregular power
supply and moved in with her maternal uncle.
"Kemisola was like a younger sister to me. She was a
lovely person. When she came back on Monday, she greeted me and went inside. I
was surprised this morning to hear about her d3ath.
“She left this area to stay with her mother’s younger
brother three months ago and only comes here once in a while. Her neighbour
might not have even known she was inside until the odour started."
The spokesperson for Osun State Police Command, Abiodun
Ojelabi, confirmed the incident.
“The incident was reported today. The remains were evacuated
by the police, and an autopsy will be carried out. No mark of violence on the
deceased,” he said.
“But the police will investigate the incident to know
exactly the circumstances surrounding the d3ath.”
