Friday, April 3, 2026 - Gunmen have killed the traditional ruler of Ishinkwor community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, HRH Jehoshaphat Ikegwu. According to reports, the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night, April 1, at his palace.
The assailants reportedly invaded the palace and shot the
monarch through the window.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the chairman of the
local government, Ikechukwu Ogbofia, said the police were investigating the
k!lling and urged the people of the community to remain calm.
Ikegwu’s killing brings the total number of monarchs killed
in the state to five.
Last month, the traditional ruler of Ndufu-Alike community
in Ikwo Local Government Area was k!lled after he was abducted.
His body was set ablaze by the kidnappers.
About nine suspects were arrested in connection with the
crime, but nothing has been heard about them
