Sunday, April 12, 2026 - A three-month-old baby has been k!lled in a dog attack at a home in North Yorkshire.
Armed police were called to the address in Hardale Grove,
Redcar, shortly after 1.30pm yesterday, April 9, over reports of concern for a
child.
The baby was already de@d by the time they arrived, police
said, adding it was believed to have been the result of a dog bite.
Neighbours said they were asked to stay indoors while one
dog from the property was shot by police outside. Another was recovered by
officers.
A 31-year-old woman was taken to hospital for an injury to
her arm.
Police arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of being in
charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in de@th.
He was released on bail after being questioned.
Chief Superintendent Rachel Stockdale said: "Our
thoughts continue to be with the child’s family following this tragic and
distressing incident.
"I want to take this opportunity to request that their
privacy is respected during this difficult time.
"There will continue to be a scene in place at the
property alongside a visible policing presence as the investigation is
ongoing.
"I encourage anyone who has concerns to please speak to
an officer.
“We are also appealing to anyone with information, mobile or
doorbell and dash cam footage to get in touch.”
