Friday, April 3, 2026 - Troops of 159 Battalion, deployed at Kanama in Yobe State under Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP spy during a security operation in the area.
The suspect was arrested at about 3:15 p.m. on March 30,
2026 following intelligence provided by members of the Civilian Joint Task
Force (CJTF).
The source said troops swiftly mobilised to Kanama
community, where the suspect, identified as Isah Mahammadu, 23, was
apprehended.
He said the suspect hails from Kafetowa village in Yunusari
Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to the source, preliminary interrogation indicated
that the suspect denied involvement with terrorist groups, claiming he was in
Kanama to celebrate the Sallah festivities.
Items recovered from him included a small bag containing a
mirror, four hand bangles, a torchlight phone, and N3,500.
He said the suspect and the recovered items are currently in
military custody and will be transferred to Military high command for further
investigation and action.
