Monday, April 6, 2026 - Senator Ibrahim Lamido, representing Sokoto East Senatorial District, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing escalating insecurity and concerns over the welfare of his constituents as the primary reasons for his departure.
Announcing his decision on Saturday via his official X
account, Lamido stated, “I, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, representing the good
people of Sokoto East Senatorial District, hereby resign from the APC with
immediate effect.”
The senator explained that his resignation was prompted by
the APC’s failure to effectively tackle the growing security challenges in his
district.
Lamido’s decision comes amid rising fears over banditry,
kidnappings, and other violent incidents in parts of Sokoto State, which have
increasingly affected local communities.
