Wednesday, April 8, 2026 - A legal dispute over the estate of late pop star Aaron Carter between his mother, Jane Schenck, and his ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, has been dismissed by a court in Los Angeles.
According to court documents, a judge at the Los Angeles
County Superior Court denied Schenck’s attempt to block the closing of the
estate. The court determined that the estate was insolvent and ordered that its
remaining non-cash assets be distributed to Melanie Martin.
Schenck had argued that the estate’s trustee undervalued
Aaron Carter’s royalties and alleged that Martin made “illegal withdrawals”
totaling $24,530 from the singer’s accounts.
Despite the dispute, Schenck acknowledged in her filing that
Martin is a good mother to her grandson and admitted she had contributed to the
strained relationship between them. She also stated she did not intend to cause
legal harm to Martin but requested that she not be appointed as trustee of the
child’s trust.
Martin, however, rejected the claims, stating that Schenck
was misinformed about Carter’s finances. She maintained that Carter had
transferred ownership of his “LOVE” business to her and noted that they shared
joint accounts.
Aaron Carter passed away on November 5, 2022, and legal
matters surrounding his estate have remained ongoing since his death.
