Thursday, April 16, 2026 - The Ogun State Police Command has arrested and arraigned nine traffic offenders as part of the ongoing ‘Operation No Traffic Gridlock’ in the Sango-Ota area of the state.
The offenders are Rufus Kunle, Sanni Ogbewi, Aremu
Oluwatunmise, Kayode Ariyo, Wisdom Akpan, Yinka Molaolu, Olushola Adebowale,
Ikechukwu Ogah and Nwuda Chukwuka.
Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed
the arrests to DAILY POST on Wednesday, stressing that the suspects also
obstructed public highways.
Babaseyi explained that operatives were strategically
deployed to identified flashpoints of persistent traffic congestion and road
indiscipline.
“During the coordinated enforcement exercise, several
vehicles and tricycles were intercepted for violating extant traffic
regulations, while those found obstructing the free flow of traffic were
promptly impounded in line with the Command’s zero-tolerance policy.”
Babaseyi stated that all suspects have since been formally
charged to court, while monitoring and enforcement efforts is still in process
to identify and apprehend other violators.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni,
commended the professionalism and commitment of the operatives, and reiterated
the Command’s zero tolerance stance for road obstruction and traffic
indiscipline.
The commissioner warned that any individual, regardless of
status, found deliberately causing traffic gridlock or disobeying lawful
directives of traffic officers will be dealt with decisively in accordance with
the law.
