Sunday, April 5, 2026 -The Katsina State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with a mob action that led to the death of a man identified as KC Joe in Kokami village, Danja Local Government Area of the state.
This was disclosed in a Sunday statement signed by the
Katsina Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Aliyu, on behalf of the
Commissioner of Police.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on April
2, 2026, following a dispute between the deceased and one Ibrahim Auwal.
“On April 2nd, 2026, the Katsina State Police Command has
succeeded in arresting 4 suspects suspected to be in connection with a mob
action that led to the death of one KC Joe, m, at Kokami village, Danja LGA,”
the statement partly read.
The command explained that the situation escalated after the
victim allegedly stabbed Auwal to death, triggering a mob response.
“The incident followed an initial dispute between the
victim, KC Joe, and one Ibrahim Auwal, who was stabbed to death by the victim.
The incident sparked a mob response, resulting in his death,” it added.
The police said operatives were immediately deployed to the
scene upon receiving the report, restoring calm in the area and ensuring the
safety of affected families.
“Upon receipt of the report, quickly, a team of police
operatives responded to the scene; the family of the slain were evaluated for
safety as normalcy was restored,” the statement noted.
The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar, condemned the incident
and urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
“He urged members of the public to always report issues to
the nearest police station and avoid taking the law into their own hands,” the
command stated.
Fage further assured that a thorough investigation would be
conducted to ensure justice.
“He further called on the public to remain law-abiding as he
assured that the case will be thoroughly investigated to ensure justice is
served and those involved will face the full force of the law,” the statement
added.
The command said the suspects are currently in custody,
while investigations are ongoing.
