Monday, April 6, 2026 - A 14-year-old secondary school student has been k!lled after a stray bullet struck her inside her home in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The incident occurred on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
According to reports, the bullet was allegedly fired by
military personnel during celebratory gunfire at a nearby wedding
ceremony.
The victim, who lived with her family in the University of
Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) quarters, was indoors when the bullet hit
her.
A family source said she had been preparing for a family
wedding earlier that day before the incident happened.
She was buried on Sunday at the Maiduguri cemetery.
The victim is said to be the daughter of Director of the
Heart Center and Head of Cardiac Surgery (UMTH). Dr Jibril Khalil.
