Two suspected tricycle thieves apprehended in Bayelsa

Wednesday, March, 4 2026 - The Bayelsa State Vigilante Security Service has apprehended two suspects, Emmanuel Oweibena and Charles Francis, both 21, for allegedly running a tricycle-based robbery syndicate in Yenagoa.

The suspects were arrested on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the Tombia–Etegwe Roundabout following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.

The suspects reportedly operated together, with one driving a tricycle while the other targeted unsuspecting commuters to steal mobile phones, cash, and valuables.

Their capture was prompted by information from a victim robbed along the Melford Okilo Expressway last year.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to years of engaging in criminal activities.

They have since been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force for further investigation and prosecution.

Chairman of the vigilante service, Hon. Doubiye Alagba, emphasized the organization’s commitment to community safety and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
