Thursday, March, 19 2026 -U.S. President Donald Trump has said he is not planning to deploy American troops to the Middle East as the conflict involving Iran approaches its fourth week.
Speaking at the White House, Trump dismissed suggestions of a
troop deployment while responding to a reporter’s question.
“I’m not putting troops anywhere,” he said. “If I were, I
certainly wouldn’t tell you. But I’m not putting troops. We will do whatever is
necessary.”
Trump made the remarks during an Oval Office meeting with
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Despite his comments, reports indicate that the
administration has considered sending thousands of U.S. troops to reinforce
operations related to the conflict, according to sources familiar with the
discussions.
The situation has intensified since Iran launched strikes on
U.S. military bases following the outbreak of hostilities on February 28.
