Friday, March 27, 2026 - Five members of the same family have d!ed in a tragic road accident along the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway in Yobe State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
The deceased identified as Hajjagana Dahiru Zayi, Ibrahim
Dahiru Zayi, Muhammad Dahiru Zayi, Hauwa Dahiru Zayi, and another family
member, were residents of Potiskum Local Government Area.
A relative of the victims, Dahiru Musa Talba, who confirmed
the development in a Facebook post said three other relatives sustained varying
degrees of injuries.
Talba said the injured victims were rushed to the General
Hospital, Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, where they are currently receiving
treatment.
The spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command, SP
Dungus Abdulkarim, said persons were confirmed dead in the accident, while
others sustained injuries.
He added that an investigation is currently ongoing to
ascertain the cause of the accident.
"The accident involved members of the same family. Five
persons were confirmed dead, while others sustained varying degrees of
injuries,” he said.
The victims were laid to rest on Thursday.
