Wednesday, March 25, 2026 - Men of the Oyo State police command while acting on credible intelligence have apprehended a gang of suspected armed robbers who specialize in using tricycles to dispossess unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables.
The suspects were hibernating at a hotel located in
the 7UP/Academy area of Ibadan when they were arrested following a tip-off sent
to the police by residents of the state.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence received, the operatives
launched a well-coordinated sting operation and stormed the location, leading
to the arrest of six (6) suspects identified as Kelvin Daniel, male, 21, Idris
Ramon, male 25, Christopher Solomon35, Mohamed Telim 21, Taored
Aderibigbe 30 and Adekunle Tolani, female27.
Items recovered from them include Eighteen (18) different
mobile phones, one Opay ATM card, One National Identification Number (NIN) card
and one tricycle with registration number OYO SHK 508 QP, identified as the
operational vehicle used by the syndicate
Confirming their arrest to newsmen, the command's
spokesperson, DSP Alayande Olayinka, said preliminary investigation further
revealed that the suspects have confessed to being members of a criminal
syndicate responsible for terrorizing residents of Ibadan metropolis.
Olayinka assured members of the public that investigation is
ongoing and all suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of
investigations, while further developments will be communicated in due course.
