Thursday, March, 19 2026 - The Lagos State Police Command has announced a comprehensive security plan across the state to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Eid-il-Fitr celebration.
The directive, issued by the Commissioner of Police,
Olohundare Jimoh, follows guidance from the Inspector-General of Police,
Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at strengthening public safety during the festive
period.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the
command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, the operation involves the deployment
of conventional officers, tactical units, and intelligence operatives working
in synergy to monitor and respond to potential security threats.
The statement noted that marine police units have also been
activated to enhance surveillance along the state’s waterways, with the aim of
preventing criminal activities and unauthorised movements.
To ensure visibility and rapid response, Area Commanders,
Divisional Police Officers, and heads of tactical formations have been directed
to intensify patrols, particularly in high-risk and densely populated areas.
Officers have also been instructed to maintain professionalism while carrying
out their duties.
Traffic management personnel have also been stationed across
major highways, inner roads, and congestion-prone zones to ease movement during
the celebrations.
Security presence has equally been reinforced at Eid prayer
grounds, mosques, markets, recreational centres, and other public locations
expected to witness large gatherings.
The police command reassured residents and visitors of its
commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the
festivities.
Members of the public were urged to remain vigilant and
promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or
through the command’s emergency lines.
