Notorious female thief arrested as police recover stolen items worth N10m in Katsina

Saturday, March 28, 2026 - The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old woman, Hadiza Ibrahim, a suspected notorious thief, for allegedly stealing items worth N10,102,000 at the Green House shopping mall in Katsina.

The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, March 27, 2026 said investigations revealed that the suspect has a history of shoplifting and theft. 

According to the statement, the police received a report from the Chief Security Officer of Green House on March 4, 2026, about a suspected shoplifter operating in the mall.

“Following the receipt of a report from the Chief Security Officer, Green House, Katsina, on March 4th, 2026, the Katsina State Police Command succeeded in arresting one Hadiza Ibrahim, f, age 27, a suspected notorious thief that specialises in shoplifting in marketing environments within the Katsina metropolis, for allegedly stealing goods worth N10,102,000.00,” the statement read.

"The suspect was captured on CCTV footage at Green House Katsina, where she was seen dishonestly stealing various items from a shop. 

“Analysing the CCTV footage, the suspect was closely monitored, leading to her arrest at the scene.”

Upon arrest, during investigation, a search was conducted at the residence of the suspect. 

The following items valued at N10,102,000.00k were recovered from the suspect's possession; 74 sets of shoes, 37 pairs of veils, 67 sets of sportswear, 54 sets of children wear, 123 pairs of cap315 sets of socks, 45 pairs of women's wrappers, 9 handbags, 3 cartons of spaghetti, 24 bottles of perfumes, 5 cartons of soap, one bag contained various styles of fashion jewellery necklaces and one sack containing various cooking seasonings and spices, among other exhibits. 

"The recovered items have been identified by their rightful owners as more victims (shop owners) were identified during. 

"Investigations revealed that the suspect has a history of shoplifting and theft, as she confessed to the commission of the offence.

"The suspect has been charged in court for diligent prosecution.

 "The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, while commending the operatives for a job well done, also advises shop owners to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to secure their businesses against such criminals. 

“He reassured that the command remains committed towards ensuring the safety and security of lives and property throughout the command.”
