Thursday, March, 19 2026 - A member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kenneth Okonkwo, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC), of incompetence and corruption amid Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.
Speaking on Channels TV Politics Today, Okonkwo highlighted
the government’s failure to properly support the armed forces.
He alleged that, “members of the armed forces are being
killed because the APC could not provide more boots on the ground, nor modern
equipment to fight,” he said.
“Even Boko Haram insurgents are now using drones, while our
soldiers are barely fighting with their hands. Morale is extremely low.”
Okonkwo also criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for
continuing his UK visit while Nigeria grapples with security challenges.
“You have a president treading on the blood of Nigerians
being killed in the name of a red carpet in London.
“He went there to celebrate and took the Minister of Defense
with him; his vice president went to Anambra, the three of the most principled
security officials are sidelined. This is happening when the nation is
bleeding,” he said.
Okonkwo comparedTinubu’s actions with the United States’
handling of fallen soldiers, noting: “Let me tell you, when six members of the
US armed forces were killed, Donald Trump personally received their bodies in a
dignified transfer of heroes. But here, our soldiers are dying and the
government does not show the same respect or urgency.”
“You call APC a living party? APC is for the powerful. ADC
is for the people.”
