FEMI FANI-KAYODE denies report Germany rejected his ambassadorial appointment over alleged ethnic slurs




Monday, March 30, 2026 - Femi Fani-Kayode has denied reports claiming that his proposed ambassadorial posting was rejected by Germany. The denial follows a report alleging that the German government declined his nomination over concerns about past statements and conduct.

According to the report, German authorities cited “erratic behaviour” and “controversial past statements, particularly his divisive ethnocentric, tribalistic, and religious fundamentalist comments in Nigeria,” which they described as “destabilising.”

However, Fani-Kayode dismissed the claims in a post on X, attributing them to political opponents. “Fake news everywhere. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment, and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it. Whether they like it or not, I will serve my country! Keep crying!” he wrote.
