Saturday, March 28, 2026 - The police in Anambra have arrested an evangelist and General Overseer of a Pentecostal Church, Favour Ezani, for allegedly impregnating a 16-year-old girl who was brought to him for prayers and healing in his house in the commercial town of Nnewi, Anambra.
Tribune reports that the victim, Miss Precious Okafor was
taken to the self-acclaimed man of God in his residence at Amichi community in
Nnewi South local government area for spiritual healing. The suspect who claims
to be the General Overseer of a Pentecostal Church in the area was arrested by
men of the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), a security outfit of the state
government.
Evang Favour Ezani admitted to the crime. He also confessed
to mixing bitter leaf with other herbs for the girl to get rid of the pregnancy
to avert public shame.
He pleaded with the security operatives to tamper justice
with mercy, promising to take care of the girl’s medical bills if allowed to go
free.
Spokesperson of the security outfit, Karen James, said that
a security personnel from Igboukwu, a neighbouring community who brought the
report said the victim was handed over to the suspect by her aunt for special
deliverance prior to the incident.
She stated that the said aunt discovered that the victim was
pregnant and when interrogated, the victim mentioned the name of the Evangelist
who is currently in Police custody.
Narrating her ordeal, the victim said the ugly incident
started in November 2025 when the suspect had sexual intercourse with her
shortly after arriving at his house for the special deliverance as demanded by
her aunt.
According to the victim, the suspect got her pregnant with a
threat to k!ll her if she revealed the ungodly act.
“Daddy Ezani
started having forceful s#x with me a few days after I arrived in his house for
the special deliverance. I was handed over to him by my aunt to deliver me from
stubbornness without the consent of my mother who resides in Port Harcourt,
Rivers State. It was my aunt who consulted Daddy Ezani about my behavior after
I relocated back to the village from Lagos and in response, Daddy Ezani told
them that I came from the even seas of the world, hence, I need urgent and
special deliverance from God to be free.”
He has slept
with me countless times inside his church, farm, and residence before the
rescue came. I don’t know my father but my mother is living in Port Harcourt. I
am an indigene of Amichi and urgently need help.
As I speak
to you now, blood is coming out from my private part as a result of the mixed
concoctions Daddy Ezani gave me to drink to abort the pregnancy. I have no
money to go to the hospital for proper treatment.”she said
