Tuesday, March, 3 2026 - Armed police have surrounded an Edinburgh tower in Scotland, UK, after ‘multiple people were stabbed’ by a man with a blade.
Two people are in hospital and a suspect has reportedly
barricaded himself inside a tower block.
The suspect was seen peering out of the window and smiling
at onlookers below.
Video appears to show a man carrying two huge blades in the
street as police arrived at the scene.
Police confirmed that two people were injured in the
incident.
Nearby school Wester Hailes High School was also
locked down.
An emergency response has been in place since 9am.
A worker told The Scottish Sun: "He was outside the
back of our building.
"We went outside and the guy was running around with
two knives at the grass patch out the back. He was walking towards us and then
he started going towards the high flats.
"I’ve never seen him before. It was scary.
"The two blades were red. He’s clearly caught somebody
bad with them. We shut the cafe earlier but we’re open now.
"The police have got it under control now but at the
time it was lawless. It’s not been a normal Monday around here."
William Ramsay, who lives in the area, said he believed the
man with the weapons had entered the stairwell of his building.
He said: "He smashed the local shop, possibly stabbed
two people unconfirmed.
"Armed police, dogs been here for about two
hours."
Chief Inspector Scott Kennedy said: "The earlier
disturbance in the Calder area of Edinburgh is now contained and
there is not believed to be any wider risk to the public.
"The incident is not being treated as
terror-related.
"Officers were called to reports of a man with a bladed
weapon on Calder Gardens around 8.25am.
"Specialist resources, including firearms officers, are
in attendance at a property nearby and inquiries are ongoing.
"Two people were injured and taken to the Royal
Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment."
He continued: "I understand this is an alarming
incident for the local community. I want to reassure the public, officers will
remain in the area as our enquiries continue."
