Monday, February 23 2026 - American tennis player Sloane Stephens and her soccer star husband, Jozy Altidore, are getting a divorce after four years of marriage.
The 2017 US Open champion and former USMNT striker have
filed for divorce in Florida.
Stephens announced the news on social media Saturday,
writing: 'Jozy and I have decided to end our marriage.
'With peace, I am navigating this transition with mutual
respect and kindly ask for privacy during this time.
'Thank you for your love, understanding, and continued
support.'
The couple, who got engaged in 2019, married three years
later in January 2022 in a lavish ceremony at the ritzy St. Regis Bal Harbour
Resort in Miami Beach.
Stephens, 32, and Altidore, 36, are childhood sweethearts
after first meeting while in middle school in Boca Prep, Florida.
Stephens, 32, is a former tennis world No. 3 and won
the 2017 US Open, her only grand slam to date.
Now ranked outside the top 750, Stephens has confirmed that
four years on from marrying Altidore, they have split.
Altidore, 36, retired from professional soccer 13 months ago
after two decades in the game.
He played 115 times for the USMNT, scoring 42 goals.
Altidore also enjoyed a brief spell in the Premier League at
Hull and then Sunderland.
