The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Babaseyi
Oluseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Oluseyi said operatives of the Shagamu Police Division
apprehended the suspect on January 21, 2026, following intelligence that led to
his arrest.
“On the 21st of January, 2026, operatives of the Shakura
Division arrested one Gafaru Rasaki in possession of four human heads.
“Upon interrogation and
thorough investigation, it was revealed that the suspect unlawfully exhumed the
human remains from a cemetery.
“This is an act amounting
to disregard for corpses and a serious violation of the law,” Babaseyi said.
Oluseyi said the exhibits had been secured and that the
suspect would be chThe police spokesperson reaffirmed the command’s commitment
to public safety, warning that anyone involved in the desecration of human
remains would face the full weight of the law.
He noted that this was not the first time the police had
recorded such an arrest in the state.
Last month, operatives arrested three suspects in the Mowe
area of Ogun State over alleged conspiracy and unlawful possession of a human
skull.
The police disclosed that the
suspects were apprehended on January 8, 2026.
