Sunday, February 15 2026 - Suspected bandits on Saturday attacked communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, killing many people and abducting several others, while setting multiple houses, including a police station, ablaze.
The first attack occurred in Tunga-Makeri on Friday, where
the bandits killed six residents and set homes on fire.
The assailants reportedly moved to Paso on Saturday after
encountering little resistance from security forces, burning more houses and a
police station.
An eyewitness, Mohammed Ibrahim, said, “They moved to
another village called Pisa, again to carry out another operation. Seven people
have been slaughtered by the bandits in Konkoso.
“This is how they destroyed the Pissa police outpost. So
far, 26 deaths have been recorded in the Konkoso bandit attack.”
The Niger State Police Command confirmed the raid but did
not comment on the burning of the police station.
Spokesman for the Command, Wasiu Abiodun, said a joint
security team had been deployed to the area to assess the situation and rescue
victims.
He stated, “On 14/2/2026 at about 6 am, a report was
received indicating that at about 3 am, suspected bandits invaded Tunga-Makeri
village via Shafachi district, Borgu LGA. During the attack, six people lost
their lives.
“Some houses were also set ablaze, and a yet-to-be
ascertained number of persons were abducted, as the terrorists were also
reported to have moved to Konkoso village. Other details are still sketchy.”
The security agencies continue operations in the affected
communities to secure residents and recover abducted persons.
