Wednesday, February 11, 2026 - Rapper iHeartMemphis, also known as iLoveMemphis, was arrested early Tuesday, February 10, following a livestreamed standoff with police in Florida during what authorities described as an apparent mental health crisis.
The Plantation Police Department confirmed that officers
responded to a residence on Monday night after receiving reports that the
rapper, whose real name is Richard Maurice Colbert, was armed and barricaded
inside the home.
According to police, Colbert was taken into custody on an
active warrant for making written or electronic threats to k!ll. The arrest
occurred several hours after officers first made contact with him at the
property.
Authorities said Colbert was transported to a local hospital
for evaluation as a precaution before being booked into custody. He faces
charges of making written or electronic threats to kill and resisting an
officer.
During the incident, Colbert livestreamed the confrontation
on social media. In the video, he was seen holding what appeared to be a
firearm and speaking to officers outside his residence. At one point, he
reportedly told officers that he was God and did not need to sleep.
Police also confirmed that a dog visible in the livestream
was safely removed from the property on Gatehouse Road and released to a family
member.
The livestream prompted widespread concern from fans, who
flooded social media with messages expressing worry about the rapper’s
wellbeing. A family member told local outlet WFOR-TV that relatives had been
attempting to assist Colbert “for days.”
Colbert rose to prominence in 2015 with the viral hit “Hit
the Quan,” which helped establish his career in hip-hop. Representatives for
the rapper and his family have not issued a formal public statement regarding
the incident.
