Wednesday, February 4, 2026 - A suspected notorious thug, Auwalu Ali, popularly known as Auwalu Dan Daba, has been apprehended by the Kano State Police Command over his alleged involvement in organised thuggery and violent attacks on residents of the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the State Police
spokesman, Abdullahi Jigawa, explained, “The 26-year-old suspect was arrested
on January 31 by operatives attached to the Dorayi Division following a
credible intelligence on his activities.”
The statement further said Ali was believed to have been
coordinating and organising groups to attack and rob members of the public in
parts of Kano.
According to the command, in a related development, officers
from the Sharada Division responded to a distress call in Sharada Quarters,
where a suspected armed robber was lynched by a mob after an attack that left a
female victim critically injured.
The injured woman, the statement said, was rushed to the
Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a police officer voluntarily
donated blood to save her life.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Bakori, in
commending the conduct of the officers, praised their professionalism and
sacrifice.
He particularly lauded the officer who donated blood and
expressed gratitude to the good people of Kano State for their continued
support and cooperation.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant and report
suspicious activities, while warning against mob action and jungle justice.
