Governor FUBARA threatens to sack government appointees over unauthorized meetings

Thursday, February 26 2026 - Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has threatened to sack any government appointee who convenes meetings without his authorization.

Fubara gave this warning during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Secretary to the State Government, Dr Dagogo Wokoma, and Chief of Staff, Barrister Sunny Ewule on Thursday.

The swearing in was held at the Executive Council Chamber of Government House.

Fubara stressed that these appointments are intended to advance the state’s development agenda, rather than create problems or serve as instruments of political patronage.

He further reminded Permanent Secretaries approaching retirement to prepare their handover notes to ensure smooth transitions.
