Monday, February 2, 2026 - Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has pledged that he will not impose candidates on communities during the 2027 general elections, insisting that people have the right to choose their representatives.
The governor made the pledge while receiving executive
members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Birnin Kebbi Local
Government Area at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
“I will never impose any candidate on any community. You
have the mandate to decide who represents you,” Idris said, urging party
members to support candidates with proven records of service.
He said his administration had implemented about 80 per cent
of its campaign promises in less than three years and reaffirmed his commitment
to completing the remaining pledges.
The governor also said his government was up to date with
the payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities and other entitlements, adding
that workers’ welfare remained a top priority.
Idris further disclosed that the state government had
continued to support farmers with free fertilisers, agro-chemicals and farm
equipment, as well as traditional rulers through infrastructural support and
welfare programmes.
He urged APC officials to mobilise members for the ongoing
e-registration exercise, noting that it was crucial for credible internal party
elections.
He expressed concern over the low participation from Birnin
Kebbi Local Government Area.
