Wednesday, February 25 2026 - No fewer than 10 suspected kidnappers have been arrested by operatives of the Nigerian Police in Ondo State, and ransom money in their possession has also been recovered.
The suspects: Mustapha Adamu, 20; Muritala Muhammed, 22;
Usman Ibrahim, 25; Asiru Abdulasi, 20; Abduliu Sanni, 22; Ibrahim Suraju, 20;
Noah Isiaku, 20; Amisu Aruna, 28; Abdulahi Suraju, 20; and Arabi Hamet, 18,
were apprehended by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Section. The visiting PMF
personnel were approved and deployed by the outgoing Inspector-General of
Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the
command, Abayomi Jimoh, the operational motorcycle of the syndicate and the
ransom money were recovered from the suspects.
The police spokesperson disclosed that the operatives, who
nabbed the suspects at hideouts along Ondo Road based on credible intelligence,
were deployed as operational support.
Jimoh added that part of the recovered cash comprised burnt
currency notes, which are currently being documented as exhibits in the ongoing
investigation.
He said, “The suspects have made useful confessional
statements, detailing the individual roles each played within the syndicate.
Relevant exhibits were recovered and are currently being processed for
comprehensive investigation and further necessary action.
“The Ondo State Police Command is working assiduously to
unravel the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and to identify and
apprehend other accomplices who may still be at large.”
