Sunday, January 4, 2026 - Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace have raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Jagindi Kagom village, Jemaa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing one suspected kidnapper during the operation.
According to a post by the Acting Military Information
Officer, Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Joshua John, via
the Nigerian Army’s X handle on Saturday, the operation, conducted on January
2, 2026, was carried out under Operation Peace Shield following credible
intelligence on the activities of kidnappers in the area. Troops from Sector 7
launched an offensive clearance operation on the identified hideout, where they
engaged the criminals in a gun battle.
“During the encounter, one of the suspects was neutralised.
He was later identified as Dahiru Adamu Barka, while other members of the
criminal gang escaped into the surrounding areas,” the post read.
Military sources disclosed that troops are currently
conducting follow-up operations and tracking the fleeing suspects to ensure
their arrest and prevent further criminal activities in the area.
“Sector 7 troops are currently tracking the remaining
criminal elements to ensure they face the full wrath of the law,” the post
added.
Commending the troops for the successful operation,General
Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Joint Task Force
Operation Enduring Peace, Major General EF Oyinlola, praised their
professionalism and dedication to duty.
He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eliminating all
forms of criminality within the Joint Operations Area.
The commander also called on residents to continue
supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that
could aid ongoing operations.
The Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace assured the
public that sustained pressure will be maintained on criminal elements to
ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens across Kaduna State and
the wider Joint Operations Area.
