Saturday, January 3, 2026 - Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson has completed a move to Crystal Palace for a reported £35 million fee.
The 24-year-old Wales international has signed a
four-and-a-half-year contract at Selhurst Park, becoming Crystal Palace’s
record signing.
Johnson, who fell out of favour at Spurs under head coach
Thomas Frank despite finishing as the club’s top scorer last season, is
expected to make his debut for Palace in Sunday’s Premier League clash against
Newcastle at St James’ Park
“I’m really excited and really happy,” Johnson said. “Crystal
Palace are such a great club, one that I’ve always admired. It’s a great time
for me to be here and to be part of the journey this club is on.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner said the forward would add
quality and pace to his attacking options.
“Brennan will give us options in our attacking play with his
pace and goalscoring ability,” Glasner said.
Johnson scored 18 goals last season and netted the winning
goal in the Europa League final against Manchester United, ending Tottenham’s
17-year wait for major silverware.
However, he
has largely been used as a back-up to Mohammed Kudus since Frank replaced Ange
Postecoglou as Spurs manager.
The transfer is a significant boost for Glasner, who recently
described his depleted squad as being in “survival mode” following a 1–1 draw
with Fulham
FA Cup holders Crystal Palace, currently 10th in the Premier
League table, travel to Newcastle aiming to end a six-match winless run in all
competitions.
