Sunday, January 4, 2026 - TikTok’s beloved Grandma Mary has passed away, her granddaughter announced on Friday, January 2.
Grandma Mary died peacefully in her sleep on New Year’s Eve,
according to her granddaughter, who goes by Pyxie online. Sharing the news with
her 1.4 million followers, Pyxie wrote, “How lucky we are to have experienced
her and her love. She will always be with us.”
Grandma Mary became widely adored through Pyxie’s TikTok
videos, where she was frequently featured doing everyday tasks, offering
warmth, and spreading joy with her gentle humour and comforting smile. Her
presence quickly turned her into a favourite among viewers, many of whom saw
her as a virtual grandmother.
In 2025, Pyxie stopped posting for several months, raising
concern among fans. She later returned in December to reassure them, saying,
“For anyone wondering, grandma is alive and quieter these days. What a
beautiful thing it is to witness who she is, and who she helped me become.”
Grandma Mary was born in Massachusetts in 1927 to Armenian
parents who fled the Armenian genocide and arrived in the United States via
Greece. She later returned to Armenia, where she married and started a family
with her husband. The couple had a son and a daughter before returning to the
US in 1966, eventually settling in New Jersey, where they built a successful
gas station business.
She was the last surviving sibling of five and remained
remarkably active well into old age, continuing to swim in her family’s pool
until the age of 87.
Grandma Mary passed away at the age of 98, leaving behind a
legacy of love, resilience, and joy that touched millions online.
