Tuesday, January 13, 2026 - The Lagos State Government has said it will prosecute seven suspected robbers accused of terrorising pedestrians on the Bolade Bridge in the Oshodi area of the state.
According to a statement posted on Facebook by the state
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, that the
suspects were arrested in the early hours of the day.
The arrest followed actionable intelligence and sustained
surveillance carried out by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Task
Force.
He said the suspects, aged between 19 and 24, allegedly
carried out their criminal activities on the bridge.
Wahab wrote, “Earlier today, operatives of the Lagos State
Environmental Task Force apprehended seven suspected robbers operating on top
of the Bolade Bridge, Oshodi, following actionable intelligence and sustained
surveillance.
“Those arrested are Samuel Olumide (19), Quadri Oladipupo
(21), Ojo Ifabomi (23), Tunde Balogun (24), Dayo Badmus (21), Adegunlola Tayo
(20), and Simon Michael (21).
“This arrest is part of our ongoing efforts to reclaim
public spaces, protect commuters, and dismantle criminal activities that thrive
around critical transport corridors.”
The commissioner added that the suspects would be prosecuted
after due process had been followed.
“Bridges, highways, and pedestrian routes must remain safe
for law-abiding Lagosians, not havens for crime.
“The suspects have been taken into custody and will be
processed in line with extant laws,” Wahab said.
The state government has continued to clamp down on criminal
elements operating on roads and bridges across the state.
The state task force arrested 56 suspects during an
overnight clean-up enforcement operation in the mainland area of the state.
Wahab had said the operation was carried out as part of
ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and restore public order.
