Monday, January 5, 2026 - Ondo State Police Command has confirmed that four suspected members of a motorcycle theft ring will be arraigned in court following their arrest and the recovery of a stolen motorcycle.
The development is linked to an earlier police operation
that led to the interception of two stolen motorcycles in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations
Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, said the suspects were tracked and arrested after
fleeing Ondo State in an attempt to evade arrest.
According to him, the suspects were apprehended in Edo State
through intelligence-driven operations carried out by the command.
Jimoh explained that the arrests followed up on a press
briefing issued on December 22, 2025, in which the police announced the
disruption of a motorcycle theft syndicate and the recovery of two motorcycles.
“As a result of sustained intelligence-led policing, four
additional suspects have been arrested and one TVS motorcycle recovered,” he
said.
The suspects were identified as Onyeka, Ekene, Sunday and
Abubakar, all males.
The police spokesperson disclosed that preliminary
investigations showed that the suspects had active roles in the theft operation
and had made useful confessional statements.
He added that the suspects would be charged to court as soon
as investigations are concluded.
Jimoh reassured residents that the Ondo State Police Command
remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police as warning criminal
elements to desist from illegal activities, stressing that the command would
continue to pursue offenders wherever they operate.
The police chief also directed Divisional Police Officers
and tactical commanders to remain vigilant and maintain a strong security
presence in all parts of the state to prevent criminal activities.
