One killed, two injured as rival gangs clash in Kano




Friday, January 30, 2026 - The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered weapons following a clash between rival gangs in Kabara and Magashi Quarters of Kano metropolis.

The clash which occurred on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, left one person dead and two others injured.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the fight was led by one Usaini Noni.

“Kano State Police Command has arrested three (3) suspects and recovered weapons following a clash between rival thug groups in Kabara and Magashi Quarters, Kano, on Wednesday, 28th January 2026 at about 10:53pm,” the statement read.

The fight, allegedly led by Usaini Noni of Kabara Quarters and Umar Tautau of Magashi Quarters, terrorized residents and resulted in the death of one person, Adam Badamasi AKA 'Choli', and injuries to two others: Ahmed Basiru, and Akilu Usman

"Upon receipt of the report, combined teams of Police Officers swiftly responded to the incident, and met a rowdy scene with members of various vigilante groups. 

"The area was immediately cordoned off, and three (3) suspects were arrested: Bazallahi Umar, 20 years old, Abdullahi Umar, 20 years old, and Abubakar Sani, 23 years old. 

"The three injured people were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where one was certified dead. Police operations were sustained in the area, and normalcy was restored.

"The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, has directed that a discreet investigation be conducted with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“The police reassure the public of their commitment to protecting lives and property and urge residents to provide timely information to security agencies.”
