Sunday, January 18, 2026 - One person has been confirmed dead, while 18 others sustained varying degrees of injury following a road crash near Numan, the headquarters of Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The accident involved a bus conveying 19 people, including
the driver. The passengers comprised 14 men and five women, meaning that aside
from the deceased, everyone in the vehicle sustained injuries.
The Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in
Numan, Assistant Corps Commander Idi Timothy, said the deceased passenger was
identified as a citizen of the Republic of Cameroon.
The FRSC commander disclosed that a report from preliminary
investigations by his officers attributed the cause of the accident to
overspeeding.
“We repeat, in view of this incident, our caution to
motorists to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations to avoid
crashes,” he said.
According to him, N40,000 and 300,000 CFA francs were found
on the deceased and handed over to his relatives, who were also given the body
for burial.
A younger brother of the deceased, AbdulRazak Bilyaminu, who
received the recovered money on behalf of the family, confirmed the death of
his brother in the accident.
