Thursday, January 22, 2026 - A man was apprehended for allegedly stealing cables from a shop at Bakky Plaza in Lekki after sneaking into the premises while the shop owner was asleep.
According to the report, the shop owner was alone upstairs
at the time, while his staff were downstairs working on a new showroom within
the plaza.
The owner reportedly forgot to lock the shop door from
inside, as he usually does when alone, and dozed off while holding his phone.
The suspect allegedly took advantage of the situation and
quietly entered the shop. He was later spotted holding electrical cables when
the owner woke up. Alarmed, the owner immediately blocked the exit and
contacted someone for help.
When confronted, the man initially claimed that workers from
the new showroom had sent him to collect the cables. However, suspicion arose
after it was noticed that he had removed his slippers outside and entered the
shop stealthily.
Further questioning reportedly revealed that the suspect had
already taken some cables earlier, hid them outside the shop, and returned to
steal more before being caught.
