Thursday, January 1, 2026 - A professor of political science, Jibrin Ibrahim, says President Bola Tinubu who criticised former President Goodluck Jonathan over the abduction of Chibok girls has done even worse than Jonathan in terms of insecurity.
Prof Ibrahim made this statement on Wednesday during an
interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television
Evaluating the security of the country in 2025, Ibrahim, who
is also the Chairman, Editorial Board of Premium Times, stated that just like
the preceding years, 2025 was very difficult for Nigeria.
He attributed the difficulty of 2025 to the unwillingness of
the Nigerian state to carry out its constitutional responsibilities of
providing for the security and welfare of Nigerians.
According to him, many felt the tide of insecurity would
turn when former president Muhammadu Buhari came on board, but the late
president proved totally incapable of solving the problem.
“People like the current president, Bola Tinubu, who had
before criticized Jonathan’s administration for school, abductions, rising
insecurity, today find themselves at the helm of the state, performing worse
than Jonathan did at his time.
“So it’s a very sad tale. The narrative is extremely
disturbing,” he said.
