Thursday, January 8, 2026 - Robinson Ewor, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of misusing public funds.
Ewor claimed that the state is currently operating without
an approved budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
He made the allegations on Wednesday during the “thank you”
visit of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to Ahoada East
Local Government Area.
According to Ewor, governance in Rivers State has been
hampered by a lack of collaboration between the executive and legislative
branches.
He warned that without a formally passed appropriation law,
all state spending would be unlawful.
“The government is designed so that there must be an
executive, a legislature, and a judiciary.
“The three must work together to be able to deliver the
dividends of democracy for the state.
“2026, as we speak, the state has no budget. Every
expenditure we make from now on, from January 1 going forward, is an illegal
expenditure,” the PDP chieftain said.
Ewor urged the state government to be transparent with
citizens.
“So I will advise them, let them be the leaders they are.
Let them communicate, let them open up, let them tell their followers the
truth,” he added.
