Thursday, January 29, 2026 - The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man in connection with the m8rder of his elder brother, Alhaji Sadiq Kawu Boga, in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased was a chieftain of the People's Democratic
Party (PDP) and the Supervisory councillor for Agriculture and Natural
Resources in Gombi LGA.
He was k!lled on January 20, 2026.
The spokesperson of the command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje,
who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 said the
suspect, Abubakar Sadiq, was arrested following credible intelligence and the
suspect confessing to committing the crime along with five other
suspects.
The PPRO said the suspect led police to recover one AK-47
rifle, a locally made single barrel rifle, one Dane Gun and 24 rounds of live
ammunition.
The suspect also mentioned two of his accomplices,
identified as Jalo Hamiyu, 35, and Umar Baba, 41, both residents of Fotta
Village in Gombi LGA.
According to the police, a joint team of operatives, hunters
and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force later moved to the suspects’
hideouts.
The two suspects, upon sighting security operatives, opened
fire on them.
This led to a gun duel which resulted in the neutralisation
of the suspects.
“The Adamawa
State Police Command has recorded another major operational breakthrough in its
sustained fight against violent crimes, particularly culpable homicide, Armed
Robbery, Kidnapping and illegal possession of firearms,” the statement read.
"Following
credible intelligence, the Command's operatives attached to Gombi
Divisional police headquarters in collaboration with professional hunters,
swung into action and luckily arrested one Abubakar Sadiq, 40 years, male of
Boga Village, Gombi LGA, in connection to the k!lling of his elder brother Alh.

"During
interrogation, the suspect confessed committing the crime, along with five
others.
"Interestingly,
he led the police to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle used in committing the
crime and twenty-four rounds of live ammunition.
"The
suspect further mentioned two (2) of his accomplices, namely: Jalo Hamiyu, 35
years, and Umar Baba, 41 years, both males and residents of Fotta Village,
Gombi LGA.
"Consequently,
on the same date, a joint team of Police operatives, Hunters, and Civilian JTF
proceeded to their hideouts to affect their arrest.
"Fortunately,
the duo, upon sighting police operatives, opened fire to scare the operatives
and escape arrest. This led to a gun duel which resulted in the neutralisation
of the two suspects.
"Additional
exhibits recovered at the scene include: One (1) locally made single-barrel
rifle, and one (1) Dane gun.
"Meanwhile,
efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the crime network.
"The
Commissioner of Police, *CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+),* commends the gallantry
and professionalism of the DPO and his men, reassures the public of the
Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the
