Sunday, February 1, 2026 - Nigerian music is once again in the global spotlight as five Nigerian artists have been nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards.
The 68th Grammy Awards will hold on Sunday, February 1,
2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Nigerian acts competing
across key categories — further cementing the country’s influence on the world
music stage.
Burna Boy leads the pack with two nominations. He is
nominated for Best African Music Performance with “Love” and Best
Global Music Album for No Sign of Weakness, extending his run as
one of Africa’s most consistent Grammy contenders.
Davido also returns to the Grammy conversation with “With
You” featuring Omah Lay, earning a nomination in the Best African
Music Performance category.
Ayra Starr secures another Grammy nod with “Gimme Dat” featuring
Wizkid, also nominated in the Best African Music Performance category.
Wizkid, through the same collaboration, adds yet another
Grammy nomination to his already decorated career.
Omah Lay completes the list with his feature on
Davido’s “With You”, marking another major milestone for the singer.
In a historic moment, Afrobeat pioneer Fela
Anikulapo-Kuti will receive a posthumous Grammy Lifetime
Achievement Award, becoming the first African artist to be honoured in this
category. The award will be presented at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony on
Saturday, January 31, 2026, alongside global icons including Whitney Houston,
Chaka Khan, Cher, and Paul Simon.
