Thursday, January 8, 2026 - The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two men in connection with an alleged attempted m8rder of a woman in Akure, the state capital.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Jimoh Kazeem, who
confirmed the incident on Wednesday, January 7, 2025 said the suspects were
arrested following a distress call by a woman, identified as Fasuru, who
resides in the Oke-Ijebu area of Akure.
It was gathered that operatives attached to the Ijapo
Divisional Police Headquarters responded swiftly to the report and moved to the
location, where they allegedly found two men attacking the woman.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects, identified
as Sodiq and Emmanuel, allegedly assaulted the victim until she became
unconscious.
The police intervened, rescued the woman and immediately
conveyed her to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The suspects were taken into police custody for
interrogation, while the matter has been handed over to the Command Monitoring
Unit for detailed investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police Commissioner, Adebowale
Lawal, cautioned residents against involvement in violent acts, warning that
such offences carry serious consequences.
He assured the public of the command’s preparedness to
promptly address complaints and reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice.
The police boss further called on residents of the state to
remain law-abiding and assist the police with timely and credible information
to enhance crime prevention and safeguard lives and property across the
state.
