Sunday, December 28, 2025 -A Nigerian woman, Kemisola Mustapha, has taken to social media to publicly seek a second wife for her husband, saying her ongoing battle with cancer has affected her ability to fully meet her marital responsibilities.
According to Punch, Mustapha, a trader and mother of three,
made the appeal in a video shared on her TikTok page, explaining that her
health challenge began in 2024 after she was diagnosed with cancer.
According to her, the illness has taken a toll on her family
life, particularly her physical strength and intimacy with her husband, which
led her to consider bringing another woman into the home.
She said the decision was driven by concern for her
husband’s happiness and the stability of her family, stressing that she did not
want her condition to create emotional or marital strain.
In the video, Mustapha described her husband as supportive,
revealing that he had sold almost all his properties to fund her cancer
treatment and had stood by her emotionally and financially throughout the
process.
She explained that she had been searching for a suitable
co-wife for over nine months and was looking for someone with good character,
who would be peaceful, loving, faithful, and willing to care for both her
children and herself.
“This request is from the bottom of my heart. My mind is
totally open to it,” she said, adding that her illness had limited what she
could do physically and sexually, leaving her husband deprived in some areas of
their marriage.
Mustapha disclosed that she had earlier paused the search
after receiving warnings from another woman, who cautioned that a new wife
might see her illness as an opportunity to wish her harm. She said that advice
initially made her step back.
However, she revealed that she had since resumed the search,
clarifying that her decision was not based on fear of death or hopelessness,
but on love for her husband and children.
“I am not dying. I am not giving up anytime soon,” she
stated, insisting that her goal was to restore the happiness her family once
enjoyed.
She also revealed that although her husband initially
opposed the idea of taking another wife, he later agreed after repeated
discussions, and that the decision was formalised through a legal undertaking.
The mother of three went further to outline the qualities
she expects in a potential co-wife, stressing love, good upbringing, education,
and the ability to give her husband peace of mind.
